In this film, Leon de Paris, portrayed by Michel Serrault, attempts to find satisfaction beyond his modest beginnings. With financial assistance from his demanding mother-in-law, Fanny, he opens a stylish barbershop in Rome. However, he must hide his homosexuality to maintain his business. This creates tension in his life as he grapples with his identity and familial expectations.

To escape this predicament, Leon devises a plan involving a gangster named "Er Cuculo." He aims to stage a robbery, intending to steal from Fanny and flee to Monte Carlo.
