The film follows the story of a banker who, after a fallout with his family, creates a unique stipulation in his will regarding his fortune. Eighty years after his death, his wealth can only be accessed by the rightful owner of five keys distributed among his relatives. The plot intensifies when Murphy, a fugitive crook, acquires one key and learns about the others.

Over five years, Murphy employs criminal tactics to secure two more keys, leaving him in a race against time to acquire the remaining ones. He must retrieve the fourth key from Carlo and the fifth from the wealthy widow Maria. However, Carlo, initially suspected of wrongdoing, cleverly counters Murphy's plans, setting the stage for a thrilling cat-and-mouse game.
