The film revolves around the disruption of a peaceful mountain village triggered by an avalanche initiated by Reto Lauenstein. He threatens the villagers with further avalanches unless they execute Adalbert Jentsch, who has been wrongly accused of murdering Reto's son. As the situation escalates, the villagers are forced to confront their own ethics and the consequences of their actions.
