The film follows Katja, a 16-year-old from West-Berlin, and Thorben, a 17-year-old from East Germany, as they navigate their budding romance amid the backdrop of German reunification. Their love story unfolds against the tension of family disputes over a house in Kleinmachnow, a suburb of East-Berlin, which has been a source of conflict due to its historical ties and dispossession under GDR rule.

As Katja's father seeks restitution for the family home his family lost when they emigrated to West-Berlin in 1961, old wounds are reopened.
