Immortals, directed by Tarsem Singh, captures a unique blend of action and myth. It’s visually striking, with a rich color palette and some impressive practical effects that bring the ancient world to life. The pacing is relentless, matching Theseus’s struggle as he battles King Hyperion. The performances are solid, especially Henry Cavill in the lead role, bringing an earnestness to a character caught between gods and men. The themes dive deep into destiny and sacrifice, which resonate well throughout the film. There’s a surreal quality to the storytelling that sets it apart from standard sword-and-sandal fare, making it feel like a painting come to life. Definitely feels like a labor of love from Singh, who really understands how to weave visuals with narrative.
