So, 'Inherent Vice' is kind of a trip, right? It's set in that hazy, sun-soaked Los Angeles of the late '60s and early '70s, where everything feels a bit off-kilter. Joaquin Phoenix as Doc is fantastic, embodying this laid-back, stoner detective vibe perfectly. The pacing's a bit meandering, which fits the whole vibe of the story—it’s based on a Thomas Pynchon novel, after all. The atmosphere is thick with nostalgia and paranoia, and you really get pulled into that psychedelic world. Plus, you can't help but appreciate the practical effects and the detailed production design. The ensemble cast brings an eclectic mix of characters, each contributing to the film's quirky essence. It’s distinctive, for sure.
