Irrlicht und Feuer

The film revolves around Jürgen Fohrmann, who works as a hauer underground. Following the closure of his mine due to the coal crisis, he struggles with the changing dynamics of his marriage as his wife's attitudes towards prosperity clash with his reality. As he navigates unemployment, he initially finds work as an auxiliary worker before transitioning to a more automated role in the electrical industry, believing he has achieved a better social standing.

However, Fohrmann soon realizes that the perception of a 'clean' job does not shield him from the challenges faced by his fellow miners. As the story unfolds, he confronts the harsh truths of labor struggles and the impact of social mobility on his life and relationships.
