Jaws: The Revenge is an interesting beast in the Jaws franchise. The pacing feels a bit off, with its slow build-up contrasting the shock value audiences expect. Ellen Brody, played by Lorraine Gary, brings a different kind of tension—it’s less about the hunt and more about her psychological state. The shark, a mix of practical effects and some questionable CGI, follows her to the Caribbean, and there’s a distinct tropical vibe that feels a bit out of place. Themes of family and revenge bubble under the surface, but they’re muddled by the execution. Still, it’s a unique entry if you appreciate the ways franchises can evolve—or devolve, depending on your perspective.
