Joseph's Children

The documentary takes viewers on a journey from the place where Joseph Brodsky died to where he was born, illustrating the insurmountable distance created by time and circumstance. Directed with a focus on personal narratives, it features individuals who discuss Brodsky's influence on their lives, despite never having met him.

In the summer of 2014, at the behest of Brodsky's widow, Maria, the last remnants of Brodsky's life are sent back to his birthplace in St. Petersburg. The film attempts to create a group portrait of those who embody the legacy of Brodsky, portraying a generation that feels a connection to him through his poetry and philosophy. This documentary serves as a reflection on identity, loss, and the lasting impact of artistic figures on future generations.
