Juke Joint

The film follows Bad News Johnson, a con artist from Memphis, and his sidekick July Jones as they arrive in Dallas with only twenty-five cents. They become boarders at the home of Louella "Mama Lou" Holiday, who mistakenly believes Johnson is an acting teacher from Hollywood. In exchange for free room and board, the duo agrees to provide poise lessons to Mama Lou's daughter, Honey Dew, who is aspiring to win a beauty contest.
