Kagaar

The film tells the story of Bhaskar Sarnaik, a naive and illiterate man who arrives in Bombay to find his missing brother. Upon meeting Sub-Inspector Gokhale, played by Om Puri, Bhaskar receives help not only in his search but also in securing a job at an Irani restaurant.

As the plot unfolds, Bhaskar discovers his brother's fate in the morgue but chooses to keep this painful truth from their mother. Instead, he decides to stay in Bombay and trains to become a police officer, eventually becoming a Sub-Inspector. His journey takes a personal turn when his mother brings Aditi, portrayed by Nandita Das, from their village to marry him. With themes of family, loss, and ambition, Kagaar offers a gripping tale set against the backdrop of Bombay's complexities.
