Kalayaan

The film revolves around Julian, a soldier who has completed his three-month service on a remote island. Just as he prepares to leave, a coup d'état in Manila forces him to remain. With only a walkie-talkie, radio, and TV for company, Julian begins to feel an ominous presence watching him.

As communication with the main base fails, fellow soldiers Lucio and Eric arrive on the island, leading to discussions about previous soldiers and their eerie encounters with a mermaid. Kalayaan delves into the psychological and fantastic elements of Julian's situation, blending military life with folklore in a unique setting.
