Karmelyuk

Karmelyuk tells the story of the uprising of Ukrainian peasants led by the national hero Karmelyuk. The narrative unfolds with Young Count Piglovsky returning to his estate, only to be surrounded by rebellious peasants. The tension escalates when the peasants mistake his lackey, Ustym Karmelyuk, for the count, leading to a near-execution scenario that is interrupted at the last moment.

As the plot progresses, Ustym's dual role as a servant and a leader of the peasant revolt becomes central to the story.
