The film's pacing is an odd blend, moving quickly through some hilarious moments but also digging into genuine friendship dynamics between him and Yuen Bao, portrayed by Chan. The practical effects during the action sequences aren’t groundbreaking, but they have a certain charm. Plus, there’s this great balance of absurdity and heart. It’s not what you’d expect from a traditional action flick, which is what I find makes it distinctive. Definitely one of those films that grows on you after a couple of watches.
