The story follows young Bětuška, who is unaware that her mother, Maxa the herbalist, practices witchcraft. When Maxa's friends grow concerned about Bětuška's lack of romantic interest, they decide to intervene by stealing a honeysuckle branch that protects her from young men.

As a result, Bětuška falls in love with a young blacksmith named Martin. However, their romance faces challenges, as Martin has made a pact that leads him to hell. The film weaves elements of fantasy and family drama, showcasing the complexities of love and the influence of magic.
