Kraken (2025) has this really moody vibe throughout, with a lot of focus on the psychological toll of the search. It captures isolation really well, both in the vastness of the Greenland Sea and within the crew. The performances, especially from the lead, are intense, carrying a heavy emotional weight. Practical effects are used nicely, giving the submarine scenes an authentic feel. Not a ton of flashy CGI here, which I appreciated. The pacing can feel a bit slow at times, but it builds tension effectively, allowing the themes of brotherhood and sacrifice to resonate. It definitely doesn't fit neatly into any one genre box, which is kind of refreshing.
