The story follows Paul Krüger, a 66-year-old Berlin widower and former GDR stone mason. He has a strong dislike for foreign immigrants, particularly Muslims. When his granddaughter Annie plans to marry Deniz, a Turkish student, Paul decides to intervene on a trip to Turkey, aiming to change her mind.
