The film follows the journey of young actress Käthe, who, at just 18, makes her mark on Berlin's theater scene. However, her marriage to the renowned artist Max Kruse creates a scandal that impacts his art sales, prompting Käthe to seek solace in an artists' colony on Lake Maggiore.
