La bande du Rex

The film centers around a group of young individuals—Patricia, Badou, François, Dingo, and P'tit Jeannot—who grapple with the challenges of leaving school and entering the workforce or military service. Their common ground is a bar called 'La Javanaise,' owned by Janine and her husband Lucien, where they spend their time dreaming of a better future.

At the bar, they idolize Daniel, also known as Frankie Mégalo, a film projectionist and rocker looking for a band. The story unfolds as these young idlers attempt to secure a venue for Frankie to perform while seeking funds to escape to a warmer climate. Their journey is marked by both aspirations and the reality of their circumstances, making it a poignant reflection on youth and ambition.
