La cantata dei pastori

The story follows Razzullo, a scrivener tasked by Emperor Augusto to conduct a census across the Empire. As he navigates his duties, he encounters Sarchiapone, a quirky barber and violin scraper, who is on the run from a gangster. Together, they face various challenges in their quest to find food and survive.

Simultaneously, the film depicts Mary and Joseph's journey as they search for a place to wait for the birth of Baby Jesus. They are pursued by Plutone, the Lord of the underworld, along with his mischievous minions, adding an element of tension to their quest.
