The film follows Diaz de Toledo, a South American refugee who secures a position at a luxury hotel known for its wealthy clientele. Here, he befriends the affluent Parker family and develops feelings for their daughter, Chela. However, their romance is complicated by the arrival of Lord Hampton, an adventurer who elopes with Chela, leading to a dramatic turn of events.

As the story unfolds, Chela realizes the true nature of Hampton and seeks Diaz's help. His attempts to rescue her result in a violent confrontation that leaves him injured. The narrative progresses to a night club setting where Diaz and Chela present a living target number, hinting at the ongoing tension with Hampton as he reappears in their lives.
