La Mugre

The film explores the journey of Román Zegarra, an amateur boxer who faces rejection from a gym due to his lack of experience in La Mugre, a notorious underground fighting event. As pressure mounts from his friends and family, Román decides to enter the violent arena, seeking to prove himself and support his loved ones.

In his quest, Román enlists the help of El Puma, a former wrestler, who guides him through the harsh realities of the tournament. The plot thickens as Román's first fight leads to a tragic outcome—he accidentally kills his opponent. This pivotal moment forces him to confront the consequences of his actions and the intense adulation from the audience, leaving him in a moral quandary.
