Lal Americayil

The story follows Ravi Varma, a wealthy businessman in America, who has been devastated by the loss of his son Babu, who went missing when he was just five years old. After the death of his blind wife on the same day as Babu's disappearance, Ravi decides to take drastic measures to find his son. With the support of his friend Unnithan and attorney Ravindran, he fakes his own death and publishes an ad seeking his son.

The plot thickens when three individuals come forward, each claiming to be Babu. They all pass the various tests set by Ravi, Unnithan, and Ravindran, leading to confusion and tension as they attempt to uncover the truth. Featuring a strong cast that includes Mohanlal, Prem Nazir, and Oduvil Unnikrishnan, the film engages with themes of family, memory, and the search for identity, making it a poignant piece of cinema from the late 1980s.
