This film tells the story of Beatriz, the daughter of an Isabeline colonel. She secretly marries a Carlist captain who is killed during the first Carlist war. Years later, Beatriz returns to her hometown of Rubiercos, an Asturian hamlet, to find her daughter and confront the changes brought by the coal mining industry.
