Laughter and Punishment is one of those films that blends comedy with a bit of bite. You got José Garcia playing Vincent, a doctor who's got this relentless need to be the center of attention, and it just drives Camille, his girlfriend, up the wall. Doval’s direction feels oddly personal, and you can sense the chemistry there. The tone shifts from light-hearted banter to moments that really make you think about how humor can be a double-edged sword. The pacing's pretty breezy, and while it's not loaded with impressive special effects, it’s the performances that really carry the piece. Garcia’s comedic timing is spot-on, but it’s the quieter moments that give it depth. Not your typical rom-com, for sure.
