Le Socrate

In this thought-provoking narrative, a modern-day Socrates abandons his life as a philosopher to live off the land. As he navigates this new existence, a police inspector is assigned to observe him, leading to unexpected philosophical exchanges between the two. The inspector becomes intrigued by the Socratic way of life, which sparks a deeper conversation about material possessions and personal fulfillment.

The film also introduces a young woman and her nihilistic boyfriend, who supports his lifestyle through psychedelic performances. This dynamic adds layers of conflict and interaction, as the boyfriend’s antics lead to the philosopher's ideas being published, gaining him a following. The story balances humor with serious themes, exploring what it means to seek meaning beyond societal expectations. With some nudity present, it remains a reflection on self-discovery and the pursuit of true happiness.
