Legend of Paisiy

Set in the early 18th century, the film portrays Bulgaria under Ottoman rule. The young monk Paisiy, warned by his fellow monks, embarks on a quest to find Slavonic books that detail Bulgaria’s past and cultural heritage. His journey leads him to the "pestilent chapel," where he uncovers stacks of old Bulgarian texts that reveal the wisdom of Bulgarian kings and the glory of the Bulgarian Empire.

In a time when national identity is overshadowed, Paisiy’s discovery becomes crucial. Despite opposition from his fellow monks, who attempt to destroy the books, Paisiy manages to preserve these vital pieces of history. His work, especially the handwritten copies of his "Slav-Bulgarian History," ignites a sense of awareness and pride among the Bulgarian people, allowing them to reconnect with their heritage.
