The film follows Carol, the owner of a hotel, who becomes entangled in a complex relationship with her lover, Mathias. He is a scientist who creates a pill designed to induce euphoria and sexual stimulation. As Claude, another character, seeks to capitalize on this invention, tension arises when Mathias discovers Carol's intimacy with another guest, Lucy. This leads to a dramatic climax where Mathias destroys the formula in a fit of rage.
