Let It Ride is this quirky little comedy from '89 that brings a light-hearted look at gambling without getting too heavy. Richard Dreyfuss is solid as a guy who just has the luck of the draw at the racetrack, and you can really feel the camaraderie with the other characters. The pacing feels just right, like a good day at the track – you’re never bored. There’s a fun mystique about how everything falls into place for him, and Dreyfuss' charisma keeps you rooting for him, even if you know it's all a bit of a fantasy. It’s got that nice mix of comedy and a slice of life that feels genuine, despite the improbable happenings. Definitely a unique take on the gambling genre.
