Life Outside of Pearl

The film revolves around a Haitian-American family facing the challenges of a new culture while trying to maintain their heritage. The family patriarch, a taxi cab driver, hides his extramarital affair from his wife, who is aware of his indiscretions but prioritizes family stability over her own needs.

Their teenage son, Jean, is academically smart yet makes the naive choice to delay college in favor of pursuing his dream of opening a computer shop. His decision leads him down a risky path as he seeks illegal means to fund his venture and associates with unsavory characters. Meanwhile, Jean's sister navigates her own romantic challenges as her fairy tale love story is abruptly interrupted by her father's infidelity.
