Lingering Spirits is an intriguing blend of drama and supernatural elements. Directed by Yuichiro Hirakawa, the film centers on Gajirou Honda, a rather self-absorbed guy whose callousness is put to the test after a car accident. The way the ghosts of the driver and three pole dancers emerge, offering him a Faustian bargain, is both eerie and oddly humorous. The pacing has its own rhythm, shifting from tension to moments of unexpected levity. The performances, particularly from the ghostly quartet, really bring a unique vibe to the story. You get this nice mix of practical effects that keep the focus on the emotional stakes rather than flashy tricks. It’s not your typical ghost story; it’s layered with themes of redemption and the weight of one's choices.
