The film centers on James Harries, a former child prodigy, and his family, all of whom hold Ph.D.s in Metaphysics. However, the legitimacy of these degrees raises questions, as some were acquired from a fake university while others awarded themselves. This documentary delves into the eccentric lives of the family members, showcasing their unusual beliefs and lifestyles.

Set in a mock Tudor cottage in Cardiff, the family includes a variety of colorful characters, such as a convicted arsonist, an astral projectionist, a former Bunny Girl, and a part-time private detective. Additionally, the film features transgender themes as James now identifies as Lauren. Their self-perception as morally and intellectually superior to society contrasts sharply with their unconventional realities, making for a compelling watch.
