Lost After Dark has that classic 80s slasher vibe, but it’s set in modern times, which gives it a nice twist. It does a decent job of building tension, especially when the group of teens finds themselves trapped in that creepy farmhouse. The pacing keeps things moving, and you can feel the dread creeping in as the night goes on. The practical effects are worth noting too; they add a raw quality to the horror that CGI just can't replicate. The performances aren’t groundbreaking, but they fit the archetypes well enough, giving it a sort of familiarity. It’s not reinventing the wheel, but it sure knows how to tread familiar ground effectively. Definitely a film that scratches that specific horror itch.
