Love and Sometimes a Curse

The film follows Mate Pivac, a policeman and father of eight, who learns that every ninth child in Croatia receives royal patronage from the King. Desperate for financial support, he tries to convince his wife to have another child. The arrival of a circus troop introduces complications, particularly with a star who resembles Our Lady of the Angel, awakening desires in the local men and challenging Mate's resolve.
