Loyalties

Loyalties tells the story of Lily and her three youngest children as they join her husband, David Sutton, in a remote northern Alberta town. David, a doctor, harbors a dark secret that prompts the family's abrupt departure from England. As their eleven-year-old son arrives from boarding school, the family navigates their new life amidst the challenges of isolation and cultural differences.

The film also highlights the relationship between Lily and her neighbor Rosanne, a half-Native woman who becomes their housekeeper. Their friendship deepens as they face personal struggles, particularly when Rosanne confronts her abusive boyfriend. The narrative unfolds to reveal how David's concealed past intertwines with the lives of those around him, ultimately testing their loyalties and connections in a harsh environment.
