The story follows sixteen-year-old Zuzka, who is training to become a mechanic and agricultural machinery adjuster while commuting to Prague. Living between a boarding school and her parents' farm, she faces relentless hard work at home and bullying at school. Zuzka finds solace in her dreams of love, particularly her admiration for actor and singer Jiří Pavel.

As she grapples with the pressures of her life, Zuzka's secret passion leads her to maintain a scrapbook diary, chronicling Pavel's achievements in acting and music. This personal endeavor provides her with a form of escape from her reality, underscoring the themes of aspiration and unrequited love that permeate the film.
