Man in Hanbok

The film follows Jang Yeong-sil, who rises from slavery to become a respected scientist under King Sejong's rule. After a pivotal incident in 1442, he vanishes from the historical record, prompting questions about his fate. The narrative then shifts to 20th-century London, where a painting by Rubens titled "Man in Hanbok" stirs curiosity about the identity behind the unknown Asian figure.

Jang's journey takes him through perilous situations, including an order from Ming China for his execution. With the assistance of King Sejong, he escapes by joining Admiral Zheng He on a voyage to Europe. Along the way, Jang's revolutionary belief in a round Earth places him in grave danger, culminating in a meeting with the Pope in Italy. The film also highlights a young encounter with Leonardo da Vinci, further enriching its historical tapestry.
