So, Maneater (2022) is this interesting little horror flick that plays with the whole stranded trope. You've got this group of friends, supposedly enjoying their vacation on a picturesque island, but things take a dark turn when they encounter a relentless great white shark. The film builds a very tense atmosphere, and honestly, the pacing is pretty good as it keeps the viewer on edge without dragging. The practical effects, especially during the shark attacks, are quite effective—not overly flashy, just enough to get that visceral reaction. The performances are solid too, capturing that mix of panic and desperation really well. It doesn't break new ground, but there's something about it that just sticks with you, like a nasty sunburn.
