Marie of the Isles

The film follows Jacques du Parquet, who falls in love with Marie Bonnard, the bartender's daughter, in Dieppe during the year 1635. Despite knowing his noble family would disapprove of their union, Jacques is torn between his feelings for Marie and his responsibilities as he is nominated for the governorship in Martinica.

As Marie's circumstances change, she faces the choice of marrying a wealthy man, Monsieur de Saint-André, who is later appointed as General Commissioner in Martinica. Marie's decision to accompany her husband leads to a series of conflicts involving pirates, political strife, and personal jealousy. The film's narrative captures the turbulence of love amid the challenges presented by the era.
