The story centers on Melanie, a 19-year-old girl who defies the grim reality of her hospital stay with her provocative fashion and makeup. Suffering from a sight-threatening eye condition, she dreams of escaping to the West for treatment. Her only glimmer of hope is a new doctor, Carlo Sanchez, who becomes entangled in her plans for freedom.
