Mensch, mein Papa...!

The film follows pensioner Erich Zarling, who is devoted to his daughter Ulrike and his dog sports club. When his position as chairman is threatened, he concocts a plan to secure funding for a new sports clubhouse by selling state-owned trees. Ulrike, meanwhile, aspires to perform on stage but faces setbacks in her pursuit of a career in entertainment.

As Ulrike navigates her dreams, she finds herself disappointed by a pop singer’s broken promise. Her father, seeking to comfort her, shares a moment of connection through song in his uniquely decorated home. The film captures the dynamics of familial love and the struggles between personal ambition and parental expectations, all set against the backdrop of 1980s Germany.
