Merry Migratory Birds

The story follows Midori, played by Hibari Misora, who is the adopted daughter of Kinnosuke, portrayed by Reikichi Kawamura. After losing her mother and being separated from her father, Midori faces the challenges of being an orphan in a new family, especially as Kinnosuke and his wife welcome a biological child. This dynamic places Midori in a difficult position, viewed more as an obstacle than a cherished member of the family.

When a sword-play troupe arrives in town, Midori is drawn to the kindness of female magician Katsutamusai Harue, played by Chikage Awashima. She decides to follow the troupe on their tours as she discovers her own talent for singing. Midori's popularity grows, but she also faces challenges, particularly from Yoshizawa, the troupe leader, who bullies her despite his feelings for her. This mix of personal struggle and artistic ambition makes Merry Migratory Birds an intriguing film that reflects the trials of its era.
