Midnight Ride is an interesting blend of action and horror, really exploring the fragility of a woman's psyche under duress. The pacing is tense, drawing you in as the protagonist, suddenly alone and vulnerable, becomes entangled with Justin McKay – who, to put it lightly, isn't the safe ride she thought she was getting. The atmosphere is thick with dread; you can feel the weight of impending danger with each revelation. There's a rawness in the performances, especially from the lead, who captures the essence of fear and desperation well. Practical effects add a certain grit that makes it stand out in the late '80s, early '90s era. It’s not polished, but there's something about its rough edges that gives it character.
Explores themes of vulnerability and trust.Notable for its practical effects from the period. An interesting character study within the thriller genre.
