Midsummer Fruit

The narrative follows Ayumi and her husband, Ryoma, who run a grape farm together. However, their relationship is strained as Ryoma frequently leaves for Tokyo to work during the winter months. While Ryoma is away, Ayumi lives with her mother-in-law, resulting in a disconnect that is reflected in their brief and blunt phone conversations.

In Tokyo, Ryoma unexpectedly reunites with his childhood friend Chihiro, who had feelings for him in the past. Meanwhile, Ayumi encounters Kusakabe, a younger man drawn to her, leading to a complicated emotional entanglement. The film delves into themes of love, longing, and the challenges of maintaining connections across distances.
