Mind-Set presents a tragi-comic look at love and failure. Lucy, our lead, is quite the mess, navigating her way through a chaotic relationship with Paul, who's stuck in his own head, thanks to his agoraphobia. The chemistry between the characters feels raw, almost uncomfortable at times, especially as Lucy grapples with her attraction to Daniel, her colleague. The pacing is reflective, almost meandering, which really suits the introspective themes of longing and disillusionment. The dialogue is sharp, and at times, it feels almost like improvisation, giving it a real, lived-in quality. It’s one of those films that captures the awkwardness of adult relationships without glossing over the messiness. The practical effects are minimal, but the emotional realism is front and center, making it a distinctive watch.
