Mitridate, re di Ponto

The story revolves around King Mitridate, who has entrusted his empire to his sons, Sifare and Farnace, while he is away at war. The plot thickens when Farnace mistakenly believes his father is dead and declares his love for Aspasia, the King's betrothed. Aspasia, seeking safety, turns to Sifare for protection.

Upon returning, Mitridate brings Ismene as a bride for Farnace. However, upon learning of Farnace's love for Aspasia, Mitridate is driven to consider a drastic course of action.
