Monarch of the Moon is this bizarre mix of action, comedy, and science fiction that definitely has a certain cult charm. The pacing feels a bit uneven at times, but it kind of adds to the whole experience, you know? The Yellow Jacket, our not-so-subtle superhero, really embodies that classic over-the-top vibe. And then there's The Dragonfly, who plays off the quirky villain archetype, making for some fun confrontations. Visually, the practical effects are a real treat—there’s this retro feel to them that stands out against today’s CGI. The themes of resource exploitation and good vs. evil aren’t groundbreaking, but they give the film a purpose that resonates. It’s not for everyone, but it’s hard not to appreciate its oddball qualities.
