Monika

The film follows Monika Töpper, who has taken on the care of her two brothers and elderly father after her mother’s passing. Trained as a porcelain maker, Monika finds an outlet for her creativity in her craft but dreams of a larger life outside of Gebersdorf. When recognized for her leadership, she is elected to the district Health and Social Welfare Commission, where she advocates for the local nursing home, addressing community needs.

Monika's journey highlights her internal conflict between familial duty and her aspirations. Despite the pressures of her home life and her boyfriend’s ambitions, she feels drawn to fulfill her potential. The documentary captures her struggles and triumphs as she balances these competing aspects of her identity, ultimately leading her to confront the decision of leaving her village for a broader existence.
