Monk Dawson is this intriguing drama from '98 that really dives into the life of Eddie Dawson, a monk who's been pretty sheltered. The pacing can be a bit slow, but it builds this unique atmosphere that really draws you in. The performances, especially by John Michie, add a layer of depth that's hard to ignore. You can feel the tension between his spiritual life and the outside world. The film captures some beautiful locations too, which lend it a certain authenticity. The themes of isolation, faith, and temptation are explored without too much melodrama, which I appreciate. It’s not a flashy film, but it has a certain charm and emotional weight that sticks with you.
Not a typical monk movie. · Focus on character development over action. · Beautiful locations enhance the storytelling.
