Monos is one of those films that kind of lingers with you. It's atmospheric, with an almost dreamlike quality, blending a coming-of-age tale with the harsh realities of survival. The kids, armed and almost lost in their own world, embody both innocence and brutality, creating this unsettling tension throughout. Alejandro Landes does a fantastic job with pacing, letting scenes unfold in a way that feels both urgent and reflective. The cinematography is strikingâmountain vistas contrasted against the claustrophobia of their camp. The performances are raw and intense, especially from the young cast who manage to carry the weight of their roles with remarkable depth. It's distinctive for its blend of adventure and existential dread, plus thereâs that haunting score that just sticks with you.
